Streaks Boys Basketball – 01/17/2014

Following several nights where girls basketball grabbed the headlines, it’s the boy’s turn on this Friday evening. In Rock Island, a long-awaited matchup between the Rocks and our Galesburg Silver Streaks will be a battle for first place. Both teams are 3-and-oh in the Western Big-6 this season. Last year, Rock Island’s C.J. Carr hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Streaks and give his team the conference title. Tonight’s game begins at 7:30, with pregame coverage at 7:06 here on WGIL.

The Galesburg boys will play twice tomorrow as the King Holiday Tournament gets into full swing. Blue Island Eisenhower will be the opponent at 11:30am, and we’ll have the action on 92.7 FM The Laser beginning at 11:10. Then it’s a matchup with Gurnee Warren at 8pm, with the pregame starting at about 7:40 tomorrow here on Galesburg Radio 14. Warren is coached by former Silver Streak Ryan Webber, who spent four years at Moline before taking the job in Gurnee prior to last season.
