Showcasing Cultural Diversity

knox collegeThis Saturday Knox College will be transformed into a melting pot of cultural diversity.

This weekend marks the 33rd annual Knox College I-Fair put on by the Knox College International Club.

The event gives Knox College’s international students the opportunity to introduce their country and culture to Galesburg and the campus.

Knox Sophomore and I-Club member Rohail Kahn tells the WGIL Evening News they decided to scrap the annual I-fair lunch and go a different route.

“Because we wanted to have more people from Galesburg this time around, so we’re having a dinner instead of a lunch, and we obviously have a very good understanding with the Galesburg community and we’d loved to have them at our events. So the dinner would give us a chance to hold more people over there and will have cuisines from a variety of different countries.”

Kahn says the dinner will include a number of different cuisine options from more than 50 different countries.

The dinner is from 5 to 7 Saturday at the Seymour Union.

Kahn says before the dinner, starting around 1 pm, will be the annual flag parade followed by the cultural showcase in the Center for Fine Arts.
