Equipment Upgrades Approved by Knox County Board

The Knox County Board approved several equipment purchases during last night’s meeting.

Included in those upgrades was a vehicle replacing a roll-off truck owned by the Knox County Landfill.

The current vehicle is 17 years old and is experiencing suspension problems. The Landfill sought permission to use $65,000 to purchase a used vehicle to replace the current truck.

Landfill Administrator Jerry Reynolds says there are easier vehicles to maintain.

“This was a Canadian truck so if we ever need parts for it we have to import them from Canada and sometimes it takes quite awhile to get the parts.”

The Board also gave the okay to the purchase of a new postage machine for the Courthouse.

The County could save on its monthly lease costs as well as other operating expenses with the new machine.
