A man trapped in a vehicle during a January car crash has been arrested.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Department says 54 year old Randy Knotts of Galesburg is being charged with two felony counts of Obstructing Justice.
Knotts was the passenger in a car crash earlier this month that ultimately led to 38 year old Shannon Porter being found in a field.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Department says they responded to a single vehicle rollover accident just before 4:30 a.m. on January 11th.
Porter’s body was found several hundred feet from the roadway in the 1800 block of Knox Road 500 East in Henderson Township.
Knotts was extricated by emergency personnel from the vehicle – which was partially submerged in water.
Later that week, the Knox County Coroner announced Porter had died from exposure after he attempted to free Knotts from the vehicle.
Knotts is being held at the Knox County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
