The Galesburg City Council may allow the City’s Planning and Zoning Commission to have the final say in some City development matters. That will be considered during a special work session meeting tonight where eliminating bureaucracy from the City zoning process and beautifying the City’s East Main Street Entrance will be discussed.
Should the City Council allow Planning and Zoning to handle certain development submissions, the City will need to also develop an appeals process.
That option is one of many aldermen will consider, among which are: eliminating the review process of Planning and Zoning or only giving the City Council control of the approval process.
Many rules relating to the Community Planning and Development process are written by the Galesburg City Council and are subject to change.
The plans are part of a recommendation made by the City Council that the City reduce the amount of time the planning and development process takes.
Three areas of Planning and Zoning including development, subdivision plats, and variances will be considered.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 5:30 at Galesburg City Hall.
There is little doubt that the name “Lombard” has been synonymous for centuries with generations in Galesburg.
