Richard W. “Dick” Pratt, Sr., age 83, of LaCrescent, Minnesota, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his home.
He was born December 7, 1930 in Neponset, Illinois, the son of Ward and Verna Kemerling Pratt.
He was reared and educated in Neponset, Illinois. He married Darlene Joyce Bugbee on February 14, 1954 at the Presbyterian Church in Kewanee, Illinois. She survives in LaCrescent, Minnesota. Also surviving are his son Richard “Rick” (Mary) Pratt of LaCrescent, three grandchildren, Corey (Heather) Pratt, Jason (Candace) Pratt, and Amy Pratt; four great grandchildren; one brother Tom Pratt of Bushnell, Illinois and one sister Peg Green of Chebanse, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, and brother Harry Pratt of Sandwich, Illinois.
Dick served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea in 1951 &1952. He was an over-the-road truck driver at Dohrn for many years, then a grounds keeper for Knox College for ten years. He was a member of the Prairie Drifters Snowmobile club and the East Main Congregational Church in Galesburg.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the East Main Congregational Church in Galesburg, Illinois. Rev. Robin Faull will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Floral Hills Cemetery in Neponset, Illinois. Memorials may be made to his church. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois in charge of arrangements.
