SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Members of the public are invited to attend a ceremony to remember U.S. service members from Illinois who died in the Gulf War.
Fourteen service members from Illinois died in 1991’s Operation Desert Storm, which drove Iraqi forces out of Kuwait.
The remembrance ceremony will be at 11 a.m. on Feb. 28 at the Illinois State Military Museum in Springfield.
That date marks the 23rd anniversary of the end of the war.
Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Director Erica Borggren plans to attend.
Guests will also be welcome to tour the museum, which displays the history of the Illinois National Guard.
