Highland Park Unveils Ice Sculpture of Jason Brown

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (AP)–Olympic figure skater Jason Brown’s hometown has honored him with a 10-foot tall ice sculpture.The northern Chicago suburb of Highland Park on Thursday unveiled the ice sculpture of the 19 year old skater. It’s in the town’s Port Clinton Square and shows Brown doing a spin. The News Sun reports  a crowd of public officials, friends and fans attended.

Brown finished ninth overall at the Sochi Winter Games. He earned a bronze medal in the team competition with his fellow U.S. skaters.

Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering says that in his hometown, Brown is “already a winner.”

Ice sculptor Kristopher Duschen says his team used 15 blocks of ice to create the sculpture.
