Knoxville School Board Okays Principal Resignation

The Knoxville School District is preparing for a search of a new principal.   During Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, the board approved the resignation of Knoxville Junior High Principal Matt Graham.

Knoxville Superintendent Steve Wilder says Graham’s resignation was expected, saying he’d known for some time Graham was looking at possibly leaving the district.

Wilder tells WGIL the work Graham has done over his three years as principal is reflective in the success of junior high students and staff.

“It’s a heartfelt goodbye,” Wilder said.  “Matt’s got a great heart, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with him.  He’s brought great leadership to the junior high school.  But, we respect his decision, and we wish him the best.”

Wilder would not comment on the reason behind Graham’s leaving saying it was a personnel matter.

Once the school year ends the board will begin their search for a new principal, a time Wilder says is prime for finding qualified candidates.

Graham’s will stay on as principal until the end of this school year.
