Two men were taken into custody on Sunday in Galesburg after police used information given in a CrimeStoppers tip. On Friday, officers fielded a call that 32-year old James Muloski had been trafficking drugs between La Grange and Galesburg using Amtrak.
After receiving the tip, police collected background information which revealed Muloski’s criminal drug history and alleged affiliation with a street gang called “Satan’s Disciples.”
The following day, police reviewed the passenger manifest and found that Muloski had purchased a ticket from Galesburg to La Grange and would be returning the next day.
Research conducted found that Muloski was travelling with 34-year old Lawrence Williams on Amtrak. When the train arrived on Sunday, officers stopped both men for questioning inside the Amtrak depot. According to the police report, Williams cooperated with police and pulled a black sock out of his travel back.
After unraveling the sock, several bags of illicit substances were allegedly located. Both men were taken into custody. The substances field tested positive for cannabis, cocaine, heroin, and other pills.
Muloski was released according to police, even after allegedly dropping a bag of a white substance on the ground.
Williams faces charges of possession of cannabis, manufacturing and delivery of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of heroin.
