Alexander, Percy L.

Percy L. Alexander, 78 of Galesburg, Ill. died Friday March 14, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center at 11:50 a.m.

He was born April 13, 1935 in Galesburg, Ill. the son of Stanley C. and Martha E. Willett Alexander. He married Donna L. Oberheizer in Ft. Madison, Ia. on July 14, 1956.

Percy is survived by his wife, one daughter Becky and Mike Jones of Galesburg, Ill., two brothers Ralph Alexander of Galesburg, and Russell Alexander of Decatur, Ill., one sister Ruby and Daryle Hughs of Victoria, Ill., two grandchildren Timothy and Janae Jones of Littleton, Co., and Brian and Tammy Jones of Palmer Alaska, six great grandchildren Brittaney, Brandon, Katie, Anthony, Mariah, and Christopher Jones, and one great great grandchild Landon Isiah Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Ronald L. Alexander, one daughter Susan K. Alexander, two brothers Wayne and Curtis Alexander, and one sister Marie Lang.
He was a self-employed carpenter for 40 years retiring in 2013. Percy was a perfectionist at what he did and relied on word of mouth for his advertising. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday March 18, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel Galesburg with Rev. Stephen Descalzo officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the chapel.

Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Following services family would like to invite everyone to the Galesburg American Legion at 571 E. North St. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
