Rauner Hometown Votes In Primary

WINNETKA, Ill. (AP) — Those casting ballots in Bruce Rauner’s suburban Chicago hometown had positive things to say about the Republican gubernatorial candidate – including at least one person who didn’t even vote for him in Tuesday primary.

Kathy Tshilds spoke after voting in the Republican primary in upscale Winnetka for one of Rauner’s rivals, state Sen. Bill Brady. The 48-year-old says she backed Brady because she sees him as the most conservative Republican running for governor.

But she says she fully expects Rauner to be the Republican candidate for the general election. And she says she’ll support the venture capitalist enthusiastically against the likely Democratic candidate, Gov. Pat Quinn.

She says Rauner’s business background is a huge plus. And she adds, “Give me a businessman who can fix our (Illinois’) budgetary woes.”
