Illinois Looks Forward to Adding Shooting it Lacks

Illini b-ballCHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP)–Illinois survived a deep midseason slump to make the NIT.
Illini coach John Groce said Tuesday he hopes three transfers he’ll be able to call ion next year will add the kind of scoring his 20-15 team lacked.Guards Ahmad Starks and Aaron Cosby and forward Darius Paul all sat out last season under NCAA transfer rules.

And all three are double-figures scorers so far in college. And Starks owns the record for career 3-pointers at Oregon State.

Groce says Starks and Cosby can make three or four 3-pointers a game each.

Illinois is expected to return this season’s starting lineup intact, too.
