Sunday afternoon Knoxville fire and police were called out to a home in the 800 block of William Drive for a structure fire. Upon arriving at the scene firefighters saw the property owner was burning leaves when it got out of control and spread to his privacy fence.
According to Knoxville Deputy Keith King the fire then jumped from the fence onto two cars the owner had on his property.
When the cars caught fire, heavy black smoke could be seen coming from the scene and officials believe the gas tank in one of the cars exploded.
King says there were no injuries and the fire was contained to the fence and the two cars. Crews were on scene for about 45 minutes.
The cars are being called total losses. King says the owner stated that the cars were junkers and he was planning on getting rid of them anyway.
