The Illinois Department of Transportation has authorized funds for work on the North portico at the Galesburg Amtrak Depot.
The Galesburg City Council will consider an engineering agreement for additional work on the station.
Approval was given last year for engineering and design work to the South portico, but uncertain funding at the state level prevented approval for the entire station.
Base work at the station, according to City documents, includes enclosing the south end and creating additional patron and vending space.
The City Council will also be approving an enclosure for the North portico to create extra baggage holding.
That space, however, would only be constructed for baggage with yet more state funding.
Because the project is grant funded, the City will not be using its own funds.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:30 at Galesburg City Hall.
