Dowell, Douglas Paul

Douglas Paul Dowell, 50, of Abingdon, died at 2:12 a.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014 at home.

Doug was born November 13, 1963 in Davenport, IA, the son of Robert and Reva (Dowell) Duncan.  Doug married Sandra Martin in 1985.  He is survived by his mother, Reva (Richard) Lee of Moline; his father, Robert of Edwards, MO; the love of his life Sandra Links of Abingdon; one son, Mathew (Tiffany) of Abingdon; one step son, Adam (Gina) Martin of Knoxville; and three grandchildren, Bryce, Bronson, and Serenity.  He is also survived by two brothers, Dan of Orion and Dave of Geneseo; and one sister, Deb (Mark) McConnell of Englewood, OH.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Doug graduated from United Township High School in 1982.  He took pride in his professional career as a successful salesman and had spent the past year working at Good’s in Kewanee.  He loved to fish and take care of his fish tanks.  He leaves behind his cat, Noah.  Doug loved cars, good music and having a great time.  He loved to have family and friends over to entertain for dinner.  Doug took great pride in his home and always had a smile on his face.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family for an education fund for Serenity.  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
