Quinn Meeting with IL House Members

QuinnSPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — A spokesman says Gov. Pat Quinn is meeting individually with House members to discuss the budget and revenue.

The Democratic governor favors making a temporary income tax increase permanent to avoid a $1.8 billion drop in revenue next winter.
Spokesman Dave Blanchette says Quinn was meeting with “several” representatives Thursday before leaving for a suburban Chicago event.

Blanchette says Quinn is discussing his $38 billion budget plan and revenue needed to fund it. But he would not elaborate nor name the legislators with whom he is having conversations.

Majority House Democrats have begun moving appropriations legislation for a spending plan that resembles the $38 billion plan. But it’s contingent on making the income tax increase — scheduled to be rolled back in January — permanent.
