Monmouth College Honors English Teacher During Graduation Ceremony

During Sunday’s Graduation Ceremony at Monmouth College there were a number of reasons to celebrate.
The class of 2014 was officially making their way from the world of academics to the real world, but before graduates were presented diplomas others were honored for their years of service and dedication.
This year’s Exemplary Pre-College Teacher award was given to Christine Malebranche from Jones College Prep High School in Chicago.
Malebranche was nominated by Monmouth Graduate Beverly Krueger who told graduates Malebranche may be an English teacher, but her passion for her craft goes way beyond teaching.

“I can personally attest to the fact that you don’t teach to live, you live to teach. Your personal and holistic approach to teaching has had a found impact on my life and the lives of countless others.”

Krueger went on to says Malebranch has taught students from fist grade all the way though high school and the influences on her own career where just as diverse.
She says it was those influences on Malebranch’s teaching that were clearly passed down to her teaching style and onto Krueger who learned to never give up on herself.
