Report Raises More Questions About Quinn Program

CHICAGO (AP) –A newspaper is reporting that Gov. Pat Quinn’s administration chose a Chicago social service provider in 2010 to distribute millions of dollars in anti-violence money even though serious questions had been raised about the way it was handling money.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the selection of the Chicago Area Project came despite concerns deemed serious enough that the state had asked the agency to give back more than $214,000. The agency disputes the findings and has not returned the money

Quinn’s administration says that the governor himself did not know about any problems until recently and his office is now reviewing state grants that went to the Chicago Area Project.
