Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault

A Galesburg man will be serving the better part of at least a decade in prison after pleading guilty yesterday to sexual assault of a young girl.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 29-year-old Lewis Hodge, Junior made the plea yesterday to a Class-One felony charge of Criminal Sexual Assault. Prosecutors dropped two more assault charges, and one Class-Two felony count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.

Knox County Assistant State’s Attorney Elisa Tanner tells WGIL Hodge clearly had close contact with the victim — a 14-year-old girl.

“He was living in the home with the family of the victim — had been living with them on and off for three to four years, and had become relatively close with the family, almost ingrained in a and part of the family,” Tanner said.”

Tanner says the victim’s mother first reported the alleged assaults to police, and she says a number of agencies got involved in the investigation after that.

Hodge was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, with credit for 412 days served in the Knox County Jail.

The State’s Truth in Sentencing Law requires Hodge to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he can be considered for his release — or, about nine more years.
