Knox County may soon finalize a contract with representatives of the union speaking for Landfill employees.
During last night’s Landfill Committee meeting, the matter was discussed in closed door session. The contract comes out of negotiations over the last several months – which were described as beginning in October.
Few details have been discussed regarding the contract as it still requires the approval of the full Knox County Board.
Landfill Administrator Jerry Reynolds says while there were differences in this year’s contract, it was a relatively uneventful process.
“They were pretty standard, pretty normal, there wasn’t anything much different than what we’ve had in the last contract negotiations that I’ve been involved with,” says Reynolds.
This year’s contract is considered to be multi-year, meaning it will last for a period of three years – something Knox County has been striving for due to ongoing revenue constraints.
The proposal was recommended unanimously and will now go to the Knox County Board later this month.
