The Galesburg man arrested last week and charged with having sexual contact with an underage girl says he wants a public defender to represent him.
53-year-old William Hickman, Senior made his first appearance in Knox County Circuit Court this morning charging him with two Class-X felony counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.
Hickman was arrested last Wednesday at a rural Knox County address. Prosecutors say he had sexual contact with a young girl under the age of 12 on several occasions over the last several years.
Judge Stephen Mathers granted Hickman’s request for a public defender in the case, and appointed Jim Harrell.
Hickman remains held in the Knox County Jail on $250-thousand bond, and will be back in court for an appearance with his attorney Friday morning.
Not much else about the charges Hickman faces have been publicly released.
