Seminary and Kellogg Street Overpass Construction Moves Along

At this point, the work on the Kellogg and Seminary street Overpass looks more like an overpass than just a construction site.

The project – that’s been going on for months – has finally taken shape, giving drivers an idea of just how the overpass will look when it’s complete.

Currently there are two separate ends of the overpass with nothing connecting them, however, City Engineer Wayne Carl tells the WGIL Morning News those ends should be connected soon.

“Settlement on the north side is taking a little bit longer, but that’s done now, the settlement’s done,” says Carl.  “So the contractor has been working on forming up that north side above it and it looks like he’ll be setting steel beams here in the middle of August to go across the railroad tracks down there.”

Carl says so far everything is on time and the contractor still plans to have the road open to traffic by November 30th.

He says with the progress comes the opening of some of the roads around the construction, including Water Street.

Carl says the plan is to have Water Street open by today.
