ROUND LAKE, Ill. (AP)–Police say a man was critically injured when his car was hit by a commuter train in the northeastern Illinois village of Round Lake.
Police Chief George Filenco tells WBBM Radio that the accident involving the Metra train happened about 1:45 a.m. Saturday when the car’s 46-year-old driver apparently tried to bypass railroad gates at the crossing.
None of the Metra train’s roughly 50 passengers were injured.
