Chicago Honors Little League Champions with Parade

CHICAGO (AP) — Gov. Pat Quinn, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Rev. Jesse Jackson are among the dignitaries celebrating the success of Chicago’s Little League national champions with a rally and parade.

They are among a raucous crowd cheering Wednesday morning at the South Side ballpark that’s home to the Jackie Robinson West All Stars.

Outfielder Darion Radcliff posed for photos and autographed fans’ T-shirts and posters. The young player said he “didn’t know (the celebration) was going to be like this” and that he feels “like a celebrity.” Family members have said the team is just beginning to realize the depth of support they have at home in Chicago.

The players will ride in trolley buses for the parade, which will pass the White Sox’s Cellular Field and finish at Millennium Park.
