Elfreda Corlett, 104, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 2:25 PM Monday, August 25, 2014 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born on March 20, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois to Bernhart and Johanna Flegie Tuleweit. She married Robert Corlett in Chicago in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1963.
Elfreda is survived by a daughter, Joyce Corlett (and Edward O’Connell) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; son-in-law, Jack Brennan of Galesburg; a sister-in-law, Beverly Tuleweit of Des Plaines, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Kathy Johnson (and Steve Mendonsa), Kelly (and Mike) Howard, Laura (and Rob) Fischer, Michael Brennan, all of Galesburg, Jackie (and Nick) Blake of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, Kevin Brennan of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and John Brennan of Denver, Colorado; 14 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and special nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Brennan and two brothers, Wally Tuleweit and Harry Tuleweit and a sister-in-law, Carla Tuleweit.
She worked for the State of Illinois for many years.
She was a dutiful member of the Covenant Church. She enjoyed reading her bible every night. Her favorite times were family gatherings and parties where she was noted for her great appetite. She spent the second half of her life enjoying her large, growing numbers of “grands.”
The family wishes to give a special thanks to her roommate, Darlene Robertson, and Tiffany Rose and the rest of the staff at Heartland Health Care Center and a close friend, Bonnie Templeton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 29, 2014 at Covenant Church with Rev. Tom Ek officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Covenant Church.
