Artists from Galesburg and the region gathered in Standish Park, Saturday.
The 28th annual “Art in the Park” event was expected to draw thousands to downtown Galesburg. The event features paintings, ceramics, jewelry, and also ironworks in its various vendor booths.
Galesburg Civic Art Center Director Tuesday Cetin plays a role in organizing the event. She tells WGIL they try to mix up the booths.
“It’s not a focus area per sidewalk, so if people are exposed to painting, maybe they’ll be exposed to jewelry a few booths down,” says Cetin. “It mixes it up, it gives people a little smattering depending on where they’re walking.”
Event organizers say there is value in not only viewing local art, but also putting something in your home.
Cetin says not only is Art in the Park a quality experience for those in attendance, but it also acts as an opportunity for artists to connect with other members of the art community.
