CHICAGO (AP)–Many Illinois consumers who buy health insurance on the new government-run marketplace will see modest increases in prices for 2015.Average prices expected to be released Friday by Gov. Pat Quinn’s administration show the lowest cost silver plans will increase in price by 2.6 percent.
More than 400 plans will be offered for 2015, compared to 165 last year, and state officials will encourage consumers to shop carefully.
The second open enrollment season under President Barack Obama’s health care law starts Nov. 15 and runs through Feb. 15.
That’s when consumers who bought coverage last year can switch policies, and people without insurance can sign up. The Obama administration says consumers will be able to “window shop” for plans starting this weekend.
