CHICAGO (AP)–The timeline may be off for the Chicago Cubs to have the Wrigley Field bleacher renovation done by opening day.WBBM-TV reports cold November weather is the culprit. It may mean the concrete work that must be finished in the final stages of renovation might not be done in time for the April 5 home opener against St. Louis.
Cubs spokesman Julian Green says the team is working on plans to relocate bleacher fans if necessary. He says they’re also working on a refund policy if relocation isn’t satisfactory to fans.
The demolition of the bleachers at the historic ballpark is part of a project to build a large electronic sign and six other outfield signs.
The work is part of the Cubs’ privately funded $575 million renovation project.
