The Galesburg Community Foundation wants to make sure local non-profit organizations know about all the funding opportunities that are being made available to them this year, but they’re doing so differently.
The Foundation is hosting a luncheon for non-profits a week from Tuesday, January 20th, at Iron Spike Brewing Company to discuss upcoming opportunities to receive grants and other foundation monies.
Foundation executive director Josh Gibb tells WGIL they wanted to try something other than issuing press releases and relying on the media to spread that word.
“We decided that we would take a little bit of a different approach,” Gibb said. “We just wanted to have a more relational-kind of conversation about what we’re doing, what our goals are, where we’re going to spend some resources this year.”
At that luncheon, Gibb says what’s being described as two important funding announcements will be made. Otherwise, he says many of the funding opportunities will be the same as in past years.
Gibb says the luncheon is free, but they’re requesting non-profits call the foundation to reserve a seat.
