A Kewanee man died early yesterday following injuries sustained in an accident the day before as he reportedly tried to get to work in Galesburg.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office says 61-year-old Celso Guerrero was pronounced dead at a Peoria hospital just before 4am yesterday.
Guerrero was taken there from a Galersburg hospital after the accident first reported around 5:30 Sunday morning on U.S. 34 in Knox County, around the time snow started falling in earnest around the area. Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll’s office says Guerrero’s car ended up crashing into an Illinois Department of Transportation snow plow working to clear the roads at the time. Guerrero was reportedly heading to work at Burlington Northern Santa Fe.
Ingersoll says multiple blunt injuries was the finding behind a cause of death following an autopsy.
The Illinois State Police is investigating the crash. Troopers did not release further details.
