The Knox County Child Advocacy Center will host its Child First Extravaganza March Mania Event.
The event is kick-off to Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.
CAC Executive Director Judy Guenseth says that her organization helps counsel children who are victims of physical or sexual abuse.
Guenseth tells the WGIL Evening News that the organization will be raising funds for its therapy services.
“We offer a medical exam–we don’t provide that we contract that out,” says Guenseth. “We also provide trauma counseling therapy–specialized therapy for all of the children that do come through out door. Not all of them take us up on it, but most of them do, and it’s a pretty big expense that we have.”
‘Guenseth says that there will be a number of fundraising items tomorrow night, including both live and silent auctions, live music, and refreshments. A quarter auction will also be reportedly held.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow. It is being held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Galesburg.
