The Abingdon Police Department has reported that at 8:52 this morning, a single vehicle motorcycle accident occurred on the 300th block of West Bernard Street in Abingdon.
Abingdon Police Chief Kenneth Jones has announced that the driver of that motorcycle is 48-year-old Arthur Atwood.
Jones says, Atwood’s motorcycle reportedly struck a tree after it left the roadway. Life Flight airlifted Atwood to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He is currently listed in critical condition.
Abingdon police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department are currently investigating the accident. No further details have been released to this point.
