Alderman will meet to discuss what costs should be covered in regard to fixing the roof of the building.
CAD Construction Inc. has entered a low bid of $83,000 for the repairs, which will include replacing old shingles with a new metal roof to match the roof over the council chambers.
Council is expected to take a vote on removing asbestos from the building. KAM Services Inc. came in as the low bidder at just over $12,000. The removal will be the second of three phases of construction expected to be done on the building.
New double-paned windows and an upgraded locker room area will be included as well.
Alderman are also expected to decide whether or not to adopt a community planning program this evening. The plan would enact the “Community Heart and Soul Initiative” through the Orton Family Foundation.
According to council documents, the city would provide a partial match of up to $50,000 alongside the Galesburg Community Foundation.
Council meets tonight at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall.
