Erickson in-line for IACO Presidency

ScottKnox County Clerk Scott Erickson was recently elected to a position that will soon put him in charge of overseeing county governments across the state.

Erickson was elected to the executive board of the Illinois Association of County Officials earlier this year. The move puts him in line to become President of the Association in four years.

Erickson tells WGIL that he’s looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s going to be some exciting times,” says Erickson. “It will be a lot of work and a lot of organization and planning to get things done. I’m really excited. I am real happy that my colleagues thought enough of me to throw their support my direction.”

Erickson says the group has been working to take county concerns down to Springfield.

“It seems what they have kind of been working off the last couple of years, is why counties matter. Making sure that Springfield knows why counties are an important part of the organization and functionality of the state. We’ve reached out to other groups and township officials. We have tried to talk to them about joining forces with us to show what local governments can do.”

The group that elected Erickson is made up of a number of county government individuals, including county clerks, coroners, highway engineers, and sheriff’s.

Erickson says he is honored to have been elected. He will be sworn in as Secretary Treasurer this November.
