Here is a recap of tonight’s game courtesy of WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:
“Galesburg goes on the road for the second straight week in the Western Big 6 Conference and wins for the second straight week 59-46 over the Alleman Pioneers. Galesburg is now tied for first place with Rock Island in the Western Big 6 after the Rocks won by 15 over Quincy, 70-55.
“Ethan Meeker led the way offensively for the Silver Streaks with 21 points, just over his season scoring average. Jarret Olson finished in double figures with 14 points and Eric Thompson added 13 points. Kivontay Shaw led the Streaks in rebounding with 8 coming off the bench.
“Galesburg built a 5 point lead in the 1st quarter and added on to it, but the Pioneers battled hard and never fully went away. The Silver Streaks had to hit some key free throws down the stretch, play solid defense, and ended up winning it by 13. Again the Silver Streaks now 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Western Big 6. They will be back home next Friday night to battle the Moline Maroons, which are 0-2 after they lost to United Township in Conference action.”
Ethan Meeker was our Dave’s Autobody Crunchtime Player of the Game for tonight as well with his, as stated above, 21 total points in the game. You can catch next Friday’s game with a pre-game time of 7:06 and tip off set for 7:30 on WGIL.
