Galesburg restaurants and bars were full of fans cheering on their favorite teams for the Super Bowl yesterday.

A 2015 snowstorm kept many Super Bowl patrons home last year, but better weather seemed to help a number of local establishments yesterday.

Management at Buffalo Wild Wings, Iron Spike and Sidetrax all said that the crowds this year were “moderate.”

With only a few seconds to spare in the midst of serving customers, Sidetrax Manager Tabitha Sundberg tells WGIL that surprisingly the night of “the big game” is not the biggest night for business.

“It’s a good night, but we’ve seen a lot busier nights,” Sundburg says. “People have a lot of their own parties. We do have a lot of to-go orders on the Super Bowl though.”

Sundberg says takeout orders exceeded in house business last night and because of that, more to-go items were prepared than most nights.

At Iron Spike, the crowds were nothing “crazy” for one employee. Bartender Jake Yard said last night was “fairly tame compared to some years past.”

Buffalo Wild Wings seemed to be handling the night as well. Management said staff was well prepared for the game watchers wanting food and drink.
