Obama adviser Axelrod to deliver Eureka commencement

EUREKA, Ill. (AP) — A top adviser to President Barack Obama’s election victories will deliver the commencement address at Eureka College May 14.

The Pekin Daily Times reports that David Axelrod will be the latest in a series of well-known political speakers at the college in north-central Illinois. It’s the alma mater of the late President Ronald Reagan.

Axelrod has consulted on more than 150 campaigns, from local to national, over a 40-year career. He also was a reporter and columnist for the Chicago Tribune.

Ed Rollins, the 1984 re-election campaign adviser for Reagan, recently spoke at a Eureka event commemorating Reagan’s birthday.

Eureka is 140 miles southwest of Chicago.
