At first Sylvia Shults didn’t want to write a book about demons.

She had already written about ghosts at the Peoria State Hospital and along the Illinois River but it took some convincing from a paranormal investigator friend who wanted Shults to tell her story.

Shults wrote the book titled, “Hunting Demons: A True Story of The Dark Side of the Supernatural” and will be talking about it Thursday Feb 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Galesburg Public Library.

She tells WGIL the book is the true story as told by a woman named Linda who was investigating three demons.

“So she stood in her living room after an investigation one night and prayed ‘Lord, let me hear’ and what she heard instead almost immediately was the voices of three demonic entities that started attacking her and screaming in her ear and tormenting her for a couple of years.”

Shults says that demons tend to linger around people that seek them out, which is why despite calling herself not particularly religious, she would pray to St. Michael when becoming fearful.

She’s busy writing her next book, “44 Year in Darkness”, the story of a patient at the Peoria State Hospital which is a hot spot for ghost hunters in the area.

She also hosts a podcast called “Lights Out” that can be found at her website sylviashults.com or through iTunes.
