Tammie Bolden who has been District 205’s Director of Curriculum and Principal of Bright Futures preschool was officially dismissed of her duties at last night’s school board meeting.

After a closed session hearing for Bolden, in which she was present with her attorney Don Jackson of Peoria, all seven board members voted to finalize the administrator’s firing.

WGIL reported earlier this month that Bolden had been placed on paid administrative leave for the rest of the school year.

In the meantime, Director of Human Resources Jon Bradburn is leading Bright Futures and Board President Bob Lindstrom tells WGIL Superintendent Ralph Grimm has been handling curriculum duties.

“At this point it’s him, that could change because we are looking at a lot of things, but that’s the current plan,” Lindstrom says.

Lindstrom says that in his opinion Bolden is not entitled to a public hearing and the board has no more steps to take in her dismissal.

Originally last night’s hearing was scheduled for April 19 but Grimm says the date was moved due to a scheduling conflict.

Bolden has said before that she believes her firing was racially motivated. The former Texas teacher and Springfield Principal was the only black administrator serving in 205.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the 205 Board will take place Monday May 9th at the 205 Board Office on Harrison St.
