OSF is going full speed ahead with renovations to their Galesburg Clinic.

It was announced last June that OSF would spend $12 million to update the clinic to give it a “modern look” and bring technology up-to-date.

OSF St. Mary Medical Center President Roxanna Crosser tells Galesburg Morning News on WGIL that renovations should be wrapped up by October.

Crosser says that building changes will benefit patients from the moment they walk in the door.

“When you come in, as far as the lobby area, it will be much nicer and more conducive to a healing environment,” Crosser says. “And then it really does have a lot more exam rooms.”

40 new exam rooms have been added to be exact.

A key concept in the remodel was to bring outpatient care all on to the first floor for patient convenience.

Crosser says that when the clinic’s current site opened 42 years ago outpatients made up about 15 percent of those receiving care, but that number is now 85 percent.

The clinic completion is not the only project happening in October.

“We also plan in October to put the shovel in the ground to start our new surgery department,” Crosser adds. “That is going to be new space, plus a renovation of present space on our entire second floor, which will be totally renovated.”

Crosser says the surgery department renovation will cost around $18 million.
