Illinois State Police are investigating components of a meth lab found yesterday in a Ford pickup that struck a vehicle, killing its driver.

An ISP news release says 71-year-old Drienne K. Kruzan of Abingdon suffered fatal injuries when her Honda four door was struck by a pickup driven by 44-year-old Troy D. Patch of Brimfield.

Both vehicles were northbound at about 2:45 p.m. yesterday on State Route 41 north of Abingdon. Kruzan was stopped awaiting east and west traffic when the pickup struck the rear of her vehicle.

Patch and the pickup’s sole passenger, 33-year-old Robby D. Colwell of Abingdon, refused medical treatment.

Kruzan was the only occupant of the Honda.

Investigators found a suspected meth lab in the Ford truck. Patch was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Other charges are pending investigation.

Traffic was shut down from the time of the crash until 7:30 p.m.
