Cool temperatures, but plenty of sunshine awaits area athletes today, including the Galesburg Silver Streaks baseball and softball teams. The GHS baseball team is hosting United Township at Sundberg Field at 4:30, and the softball Streaks are also at home to Peoria Notre Dame. Meanwhile, in Abingdon, the Tornadoes baseball team is practicing ahead of Saturday’s Prairieland Conference doubleheader with South Fulton. Coach Jeremy Pickrel’s team is 18-and-3 overall, and 7-and-oh in Prairieland Conference play. Fans voted the A-Town team as this week’s FM-95 Hometown Heroes.
