URBANA, Ill. (AP) — Police arrested two high school teens and took another into custody Friday after they allegedly fired BB guns at pedestrians in Champaign and Urbana.
The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports that police conducted a traffic stop about 7:25 p.m. Friday after a 56-year-old man reported being hit in the leg with a pellet fired from a gun by someone in a passing SUV. The man said he was fired at about 10 times. In the vehicle were 18-year-old Michael Simmons and 18-year-old Ladarius Taylor, along with a 17-year-old male.
Police say they found a backpack in the SUV that had three pellet guns inside. They also found pellet cartridges.
Simmons and Taylor were released from jail Friday after bond court. The 17-year-old was taken to the Youth Assessment Center.
