G.L. Vitale Family Foundations announces $163,500 in community grants

The G.L. Vitale Family Foundation has announced plans to award $163,500 in grants to five local organizations.

In a statement, Foundation President Andrea Vitale said the recipients will be the Orpheum Theatre, Knox-Galesburg Symphony, Prairie Players Civic Theater, the Knox County YMCA and the National Railway Hall of Fame.

The Orpheum will receive $50,000 for their capital campaign with another $50,000 pledged for next year.

The foundation awarded $40,000 toward the fund raising efforts of the National Railway Hall of Fame and another $40,000 to the Prairie Players Civic Theater for renovations on their South Seminary Street location.

A $25,000 grant is going to the Knox County YMCA for their downtown Main Street site.

The Knox-Galesburg Symphony will receive $8,500 from the foundation toward the $12,000 cost of the Music Memories Preview and Family Matinee Concert. The remaining $3,500 will come from G&M Distributors, which is owned by the Vitale family.
