Police arrested a Galesburg man over the weekend after responding to a Bateman Street home where property had been stolen and damaged.

Dustin McWilliams appeared today in Knox County Circuit Court via video. The 41 year old is accused of residential burglary, possession of a stolen car and four counts of criminal damage to property — three of which are misdemeanor charges.

Judge Stephen Mathers said McWilliams is accused of stealing a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, breaking into a home in the 1600 block of Bateman Street and damaging TVs, video game consoles and other items. Additionally, McWilliams is accused of damaging tires on two vehicles.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred Saturday night.

Mathers appointed a public defender to the case. McWilliams is held on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear again at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
