Though heat indices are expected to reach as high as 110 degrees tomorrow, a number of events are still planned to entertain and take place for worthy causes throughout the area this weekend.

The last two days of the Warren County Fair take place in Roseville today and tomorrow. A figure 8 demo derby and regular demo derby will pair with entertainment both nights, respectively.

In Knoxville, tomorrow afternoon will feature the Stop Suicide Ride and Fundraiser. The event is a predecessor of the Out of the Darkness walk that will take place in September in an effort to raise awareness about Suicide prevention.

Ride organizer Ashley Simpson tells WGIL this year’s ride and walk are in honor of her brother.

“I lost my brother, it’ll be two years in September, to suicide,” Simpson says. “Over the past few years, I’ve seen a lot of other families go through the exact same thing in this area. You know, until your family goes through it and you’ve been hit by it, you have sympathy for people but you just don’t know.”

Ride registration at Big Catz BBQ starts at 11 a.m. Finally, Knox County Relay for Life is Saturday at Knox College…

“Are opening ceremony will be at noon and our closing ceremony will be at 10 p.m.,” says Stacey Dutton, co-organizer of relay.

Relay will feature a frozen t-shirt contest and luminaria ceremony among a number of activities all in the name of the American Cancer Society.
