Police arrested a Galesburg man on Saturday in connection with a string of motor vehicle burglaries that took place last Wednesday in the East Main Street Hy-Vee parking lot.
Twenty-five-year-old Matthew Allen appeared via video conference today in Knox County Circuit Court.
Patterson was charged for both burglary and criminal trespassing of a motor vehicle for breaking into four separate vehicles and stealing small items like phones and cash.
WGIL reported last week that Hy-Vee surveillance video would be turned over to Galesburg police. The assistant state’s attorney’s office indicated that video helped apprehend Allen as the alleged culprit.
Judge Stephen Mathers appointed a public defender in the case. Allen is being held on $10,000 bond and will re-appear in court on Friday at 11 a.m.
