1920’s theme gala to celebrate Orpheum’s 100 years

The Orpheum Theatre is celebrating 100 years in Galesburg this year and are holding a centennial gala to mark the occasion.
The public is invited to the theatre on August 13 for a fundraiser called, “Roaring into the Next Hundred Years: A 1920’s Gala Event.”

Orpheum Operations Manager Erin Glasnovich tells Galesburg’s Morning News on WGIL the gala has been almost a year in the making.

“It’s themed in the prohibition era, so it’s going to be glamorous and fun,” Glasnovich says. “We’ll have themed hors D’oeuvres from the time period and our committee has done a lot great research on food and drink and the attire and the feel of the event. It’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s open to anyone who wants to come.

Guests will snack on hors D’oeuvres from local restaurants, drink 1920’s era spirits and dance to a 20’s style band.

The Blackhawk Broadcasters out of the Quad Cities will perform along with the entertainment of choreographed dance numbers and solo singers, all in the vein of the prohibition era.

Glasnovich mentioned local vocalist Semenya McCord as one of the soloists.

Tickets are $70 per person or $100 per couple and available through the normal means of acquiring Orpheum show tickets, online or by calling or stopping by the Orpheum box office.
