Fair season is nearing it’s end but not before Fulton and Henderson County Fairs make it through the weekend.
Henderson has figure 8 races at the grandstand both Friday and Saturday night, while Fulton is planning on their traditional Saturday night demo derby. Henderson’s beef, rabbit and poultry shows are in the rear view but the swine show will go tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
Fulton’s “scramble” event will take place tonight which is always a “huge draw” according to Fulton County Farm Bureau Manager Elaine Stone.
Stone tells Galesburg Morning News on WGIL that amidst the fair fun, the Farm Bureau is turning 100 years old.
“We were fortunate to have started at the same time that the Illinois Farm Bureau did and of course, they’ve been celebrating their centennial also,”Stone says. “So, we’ve got some things planned. We’ll have a membership picnic on August 21st at the fair grounds. We’ll have a picnic and some games and fun for the kids. We’re looking forward to that.”
Temperatures should be friendlier than what the Warren County Fair experienced last week.
While the National Weather Service is forecasting some chances for showers across the area, Friday is expected to have of 78 and Saturday a high of 82.
Also, the Lee County 4-H Fair is going on through Sunday in Amboy and Bureau County Fair is Aug 24 through 28 in Princeton.
